This association is dominated by Chara globularis, a stonewort species with a broad ecological range. It occurs mainly in man-made water bodies such as fishponds with less intensive management, sand pits and fish storage ponds, usually in water less than 50 cm deep. It has been documented in different parts of the Czech Republic, mainly at low altitudes.
