The class Cymbalario-Parietarietea is similar to the Asplenietea trichomanis in that it contains vegetation of rock outcrops and walls, but it occurs in nutrient-richer habitats and contains many nutrient-demanding and calcicole species. Its natural habitats occur in dry areas of the Near and Middle East, where nutrient-rich dust accumulates on rocks without being washed away. In precipitation-rich central and north-western Europe, this vegetation type is only found on walls where nutrients are supplied from weathered binding material and pollution from human settlements. Parietaria judaica is probably the most common dominant species throughout the geographic range of this class. In the Czech Republic, however, this species is absent, while the commonest species of the Cymbalario-Parietarietea vegetation are Corydalis lutea and Cymbalaria muralis.
