This softwood floodplain forest type is dominated by Salix euxina or S. ×rubens, while other willows (S. purpurea, S. triandra and S. viminalis) may occur in its shrub layer. It occurs on regularly or occasionally flooded sites along streams at altitudes of 150–750 m. Some occurrences have developed as secondary vegetation on former riparian alder forest sites or in abandoned wet meadows.
