This alliance includes well-insolated spring vegetation in the subalpine and alpine belts on nutrient-poor siliceous bedrock. It is dominated by bryophytes such as Dichodontium palustre. Philonotis seriata and Pohlia wahlenbergii. It occurs in subalpine to alpine areas across Europe.
