This alliance includes weed communities of cereal fields, developing on soils which are more acidic and nutrient-poorer than soils associated with any other alliance of the class Stellarietea mediae. It occurs both on sandy soils and wet podzols. The geographic range of this alliance includes north-western Europe; the Czech occurrences are on the south-eastern edge of its range and some diagnostic species occurring in this alliance in north-western Europe are absent here.
