This species-poor, tall-forb grassland type dominated by Filipendula ulmaria occurs in all the higher mountain ranges of the Czech Republic, where it is mainly found in the montane belt. It is confined to wet soils in seepage habitats and along brooks, developing from abandoned wet meadows of the alliance Calthion palustris or from logged alder forests.
