This vegetation, dominated by Chenopodium ficifolium, grows on the edges of dung hills, around silage pits and on organic soils of waste sites. Soils are wet and rich in ammonium. It occurs mainly in warm agricultural areas, but more recently it has also spread to cooler areas.
