The association Galio-Fagetum includes mesic forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica, which occur on cambisols over various types of bedrock. Their herb layer includes particularly forest generalists, but also some nutrient-demanding species of wet soils, as well as acidophytes, depending on local soil conditions. They are common across the Czech Republic in submontane and montane areas.
