Lithospermo purpurocaerulei-Quercetum pubescentis Michalko 1957

new search

This association comprises open, low-growing stands of Quercus pubescens agg., in places accompanied by Q. petraea agg. Stand physiognomy is similar to that of the previous association, however, Lithospermo-Quercetum pubescentis contains a higher proportion of dry grassland species and several species absent in the dry areas of Bohemia, e.g. Dorycnium herbaceum, Euonymus verrucosus, Euphorbia epithymoides, Inula ensifolia, Iris pumila and Verbascum chaixii subsp. austriacum. It occurs in small patches on south-facing slopes with shallow, base-rich soils over calcareous flysch sediments or poorly weathering limestone in the dry areas of southern Moravia.
