This alliance includes bog vegetation without a hollow-hummock structure in areas with high precipitation and relatively stable temperature throughout the year. It predominantly occurs in oceanic to suboceanic areas. In central Europe, this vegetation reaches its eastern distribution limit, and lacks several suboceanic species which are common in western Europe.
