These species-rich meadows, dominated by Festuca rubra agg., are found on river terraces that are wet in spring but dry out in summer. They are mown once a year and left without artificial fertilization. In the past such light-use meadows were more common, but these became rare in recent decades. Most current localities are found along the Berounka river in western and central Bohemia. Scattered stands are also found elsewhere in the country.
