This alliance includes continental drought-adapted vegetation of low-growing shrubs of the genera Prunus and Rosa, and in the eastern European forest-steppe zone also of Caragana and Spiraea. They are usually associated with patches of steppe vegetation, which is reflected in the frequent occurrence of various steppe grasses and broad-leaved herbs.
