This marsh is dominated by Schoenoplectus lacustris, a leafless species that forms sparse stands. It occurs in water depths of 40–60(–150) cm, i.e. deeper than is typical of other types of reed marshes. It often forms a discontinuous zone between the open water and littoral reed vegetation dominated by other species. Schoenoplectetum lacustris occurs in mesotrophic to slightly eutrophic wetlands, usually with a small proportion of organic sediment on the bottom, and often in recently disturbed or newly created water bodies. It is scattered across lowland and colline areas of the Czech Republic.
