This low-growing annual vegetation occurs in small-scale patches in periodically flooded depressions on arable land, around perennial puddles on dirt roads in agricultural landscapes, disturbed places in alluvial or saline grasslands, sand pits and bottoms of summer-dried fishponds. Soil is rich in calcium and salts. This vegetation has been recorded at a few sites in the warm lowlands of northern Bohemia and southern Moravia.
