This association includes stands of Alisma plantago-aquatica, occurring in shallow wetlands such as oxbows, alluvial pools, littoral zones of fishponds and water reservoirs, exposed bottoms of fishponds or fish storage ponds, and ditches. Habitats are typically mesotrophic to eutrophic and inundated by up to 50 cm deep water, but occurrences on wet non-inundated soil are also common. This community is typical of both early and advanced stages of terrestrialization; it declines with wetland desiccation or due to encroachment of tall marsh vegetation. Its localities are concentrated in precipitation-rich, mid-altitude areas of the Czech Republic.
