This association is dominated by Picris hieracioides and contains various biennial and perennial species. Successionally younger stands may contain several annual species, while older stands are richer in perennial grasses. It occurs on warm sites, especially in abandoned fields, where it may develop extensive stands, but it is also found in quarries, military training grounds, along roads and on dry slopes. Its distribution within the Czech Republic includes warm lowland and colline areas.
