Helichryso arenariae-Festucetum pallentis Vicherek in Chytrý et al. 1997

new search

This association includes dry grasslands dominated by Festuca pallens, occurring on gentle slopes of small granitic or gneiss hillocks. In the past these grasslands were used for low-intensity grazing, leading to local soil erosion, which fostered long-term maintenance of this vegetation type. The range of this association is restricted to the warm, dry region along the upland fringes of the Bohemian Massif in southern Moravia.
